# Convert a supported video to MP4

> Convert an Amazon video playlist to an MP4 URL, handle unsupported media and errors, and keep AmzDownloader credentials off download hosts.

AmzDownloader converts a supported Amazon HTTPS `.m3u8` playlist URL to an MP4 URL. Start with a video returned by an extraction and confirm you have permission to use it.

```bash theme={null}
curl --fail-with-body --max-time 60 \
  'https://amzdownloader.com/api/v1/videos/convert' \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $AMZDOWNLOADER_API_KEY" \
  -H 'Content-Type: application/json' \
  -H 'Idempotency-Key: replace-with-a-unique-conversion-id' \
  --data '{"url":"REPLACE_WITH_AMAZON_HTTPS_M3U8_URL","country":"US"}'
```

The URL placeholder must be replaced with an actual supported playlist URL. `country` is optional and uses a two-letter country code.

A successful conversion returns the MP4 location as `url`, a `source` field and cache metadata. Additional request or billing metadata can be present. Read the API reference for the complete response schema.

## Download separately

Download the returned MP4 URL without your AmzDownloader authorization header. Conversion costs one credit on success, including successful cached conversion responses. A failed conversion costs zero. Retry the identical conversion with its original idempotency key when the original response was lost.

Only supported Amazon media URLs are accepted. Arbitrary websites, local files, internal network addresses and non-HTTPS URLs are outside this endpoint's contract. Direct MP4 source URLs do not need playlist conversion. Conversion can fail or time out; do not retry indefinitely.
